Before beginning treatment, you’ll attend a self-care information session to understand kidney disease and learn how to actively participate in your care. Each session lasts 3-4 hours, with close supervision to ensure your safety as the dialysis machine filters waste and excess fluid, helping your body function until your next treatment.

At-Home Hemodialysis allows patients to perform dialysis in the comfort of their home, with training and support from our dedicated care team, including physicians, nurses, dietitians, and social workers. Eligibility for At-Home Hemodialysis requires a medical evaluation by your nephrologist to ensure it’s the right fit for you.

Peritoneal dialysis (PD) uses the lining of your abdomen to filter waste from your blood. Instead of needles, a cleansing solution is delivered through a catheter, naturally removing waste products.

PD is usually done at home, either in multiple daily sessions or overnight while you sleep, often with fewer food restrictions and medications. You’ll need minor surgery to place the catheter in your abdomen, and it’s important to keep the area clean to avoid infections. PD requires equipment like a catheter, tubing, and dialysate fluid, and each session lasts about 2 hours, typically overnight for 9 hours.

At CFKC, your child will receive specialized care in a comfortable, kid-friendly setting with personalized, one-on-one clinical support throughout their dialysis treatment. Our pediatric program provides interim dialysis until your child receives a kidney transplant. Your pediatric nephrologist will work with you to choose the best dialysis option: Hemodialysis or Peritoneal Dialysis.

Kidney transplant offers an alternative to dialysis for patients who qualify. After receiving medical approval, patients are considered for a living donor or deceased donor transplant, with ongoing coordination between Central Florida Kidney Centers and transplant facilities.

Our transplant coordinator provides education and support to patients and their families, guiding them through the process and explaining the benefits and risks. We also offer access to transplant programs in other regions, with updated records to maintain your status on the transplant registry.

Patients and living donors receive assistance with scheduling necessary appointments and tests for pre-transplant workup.
